During the conference, Dr. Jouko Vilmunen of the Bank of Finland will be teaching a mini-course. The topic and program will soon be announced. Dr. Vilmunen is currently the Head of Research of the Bank of Finland and has recently released a book, co-authored with 2011 Nobel prize winner Thomas J. The SSEM was founded to promote research and publication about emerging market economies and to provide a way for people to share their research about emerging markets. The Society sponsors the journal Emerging Markets Finance and Trade (EMFT), which is recognized worldwide for the quality and timeliness of the research on emerging markets that it publishes. The Catholic University of Brasilia (Universidade Católica de Brasília) is the youngest University in the region. Founded as the Catholic College of Brasilia in 1973, it expanded to a new campus and was promoted to full University status in 1993. The University currently operates on three campi in Brasilia, one in Taguatinga (main), one in Asa Norte (campus II) and one in Asa Sul (campus III).
